Director Pen Portraits:-

Rebecca Harris – Headteacher

I am proud to have been Headteacher here at Stourfield Infant School since April 2015. I came here from London where I was Headteacher at St George the Martyr Primary School in Holborn. I have been teaching since I was 21 and worked as a Headteacher for more than 20 years. The only time I have not worked in schools, was when I spent 18 months as a school inspector. My approach to school life is to do my best to put the interests of the children first in all that I do. I am passionate about teaching and learning and I really value the team work and collaboration that makes this the best it can at Stourfield Infant School.

I am married to David and we have a 12-year-old daughter, Florence, who attends a secondary school in Bournemouth. We live just over the border in Poole and we are all thoroughly enjoying our move to Dorset, particularly as it has brought me nearer my family, who live in Corfe Castle.

Diana Cobden – Co-Opted Director  Chairperson

It has been a privilege to be a Director, or a Governor before it became an Academy, of Stourfield Infant School for the past eighteen years. During that time the school has changed from a first school and grown in numbers, as it became the outstanding school it is today. Throughout most of those eighteen years I have served as either the Vice Chair or the Chair. As I was already a Governor of a primary school in Dorset I was able to bring previous experience of the role to Stourfield Infant School.

During most of my working life I was first a primary teacher and then became a Primary Mathematics Advisor, working with schools throughout Dorset, when the National Curriculum was introduced back in 1988. Although I am retired I have continued to maintain my links with the national mathematical teaching associations so that I can keep informed about the curriculum and teaching. I have also been involved with writing a number of books of interesting activities for the primary classroom.

Hayley Upton – Parent Director  Vice Chairperson

I have been a Parent Director since March 2014 and Vice Chair of the Board since September 2015. I am very passionate about Stourfield Infant School. My eldest daughter has just started at the Junior School and my youngest is in Reception here at the Infant School. I am also Vice Chair of the Parents’ Association and I am Clerk to Governors at five local Bournemouth schools so I have a range of experience which has prepared me for the Director role.  Education is very important to me and it is a privilege to be able to support a successful school in continuing to provide a nurturing and inclusive education where the children are at the heart of everything.

Emma Foyle – Deputy Headteacher

I have been a member of the team at Stourfield Infant School for 9 years.  In that time, I have been a Learning Leader and teacher in all year groups. In September 2016, I was very proud to become the Deputy Headteacher of this fantastic school. I am passionate about ensuring that every individual child reaches their full potential - and even more.

I have been a teacher for 23 years and have taught all ages up to Year 6.  I achieved a B.Ed. Honours Degree at Kingston-Upon-Thames University.  I then worked in primary schools in Surrey and Westminster, where I have also been part of the Senior Leadership Teams.  I then moved to Bournemouth to be nearer my family and the sea!  I worked at St Michael’s Primary School in Bournemouth before joining the staff here at Stourfield Infant School.

Working in education is a privilege.  It is my goal to ensure that Stourfield Infant School is the best it can be for all our families in our local community.

Anne Chilcott – Co-Opted Director

I have been a Director/Governor at Stourfield Infant School since 1993.  I currently have the responsibility of being the SEN Director, an area of particular interest to me.  I am also employed by the school to support pupils with Speech, Language and Communication difficulties.

I am very passionate about Stourfield Infant School and feel privileged to be associated with the school that I attended as a child.  All four of my children also attended the school as did my mother in 1920. Stourfield Infant School provides a nurturing and inclusive education for all the children in the local community and I am proud to be able to support the school in doing this.

Lucy Watts – Co-Opted Director

I am pleased to join the Board of Directors as a Co-opted Director. I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful school in the local area and am keen to make any contribution that I can to its continuing success. I hope to bring skills and knowledge from my legal studies and Civil Service career to the Board.

Janine Horton – Parent Director

My eldest son Arthur is in Year 2. I also have Sid, who is 4 and baby Olive. Since moving here 3 years ago I have been a stay at home mum and have enjoyed exploring the local area and making new friends. We are huge fans of the beach and the forest. Before moving to Bournemouth I was a primary school teacher in south west London, working with all ages from nursery to Year 6.

Rachel Colyer - Member Elected Director

I have always held Stourfield Infant School in very high regard and was very pleased when my now 14 year old daughter attended.  I feel honoured to have been elected on the Board of Directors.

I feel that my years as a mother and working as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator and a Local Authority SEN Development Officer will be of great value to the Board.

Nicola Hearnshaw - Member Elected Director

I am thrilled to have joined the board of directors of such a wonderful school. Myself and my sisters went to the school so it holds a special place in my heart. With 12 years experience working within the finance industry and fully AAT qualified and part-qualified in CIMA I am hoping to bring transferable skills in finance that I could apply to a directors role and hopefully add value to the team. I am conscientious and care about the local community of southbourne that I have grown up in and would like to help. The ethos of the school resonates with me and I am very happy to be involved and help in anyway I can.
